Peppermint.
Cookies in the oven.
Eggnog in that old blue mug
with the logo of the kindergarten.
O mulled wine!
O cinnamon!
Our very own gingerbread house,
Holding you and me.
Pine needles causing mess,
Candy canes that sit on the strands
Of a real, live Christmas tree,
For you and me.
Roast!
Despite the all too warm breath of the sun
And stewed apples!
Who could forget?
Someone is baking in the kitchen.
I can smell mince pies,
Spices,
Like wildfire -
Peppermint:
The perfume I wear every December.
Cookies in the oven,
Made by you and me.
